About AMDD

Launched in 2018, Toyota Research Institute’s (TRI) Accelerated Materials Design and Discovery (AMDD) program invested heavily in pioneering clean energy solutions. Partnering with leading universities, TRI developed cutting-edge tools, models, and methods that redefined what’s possible at the intersection of AI and materials science.

As a first mover in applying AI to materials discovery, AMDD achieved groundbreaking scientific advances, fostered the next generation of scientists, and inspired a wave of new startups. This series explores the program’s biggest accomplishments, challenges, and the lessons learned from our groundbreaking consortium.
